Amazon ranks all books they carry according to how well they are selling. The top selling book gets a rank of 1 and it goes up from there. The slowest selling book has a sales rank of about 4,000,000. These ranks are very volatile and are recalculated several times a day.

My new book just hit an Amazon sales rank of 10,000! That is excellent, much higher than any other model airplane (or model car or boat) related book. In fact, it’s the sixth highest ranked aviation-related book on the site at the moment.

The printing company has informed me that the first batch of my book copies are ready and on their way to me. I’ll have them on Tuesday, which means that I’ll be shipping out all orders on Wednesday. Orders from the United States and Canada should then be delivered on or before Friday, February 20.

Expect to hear a lot more about this book in the coming months. I’m scheduled to be interviewed at All Things That Fly and R/C Flight Cast. FlyRC and Airborne (Australian) magazines are reviewing it. There will be multiple mentions in Model Aviation magazine. It will also be mentioned in Flying Models, Park Pilot, and Quiet & Electric Flight International (British) magazines. Look for mentions also in Ampeer and RC Micro World. I’m sure I’m leaving some out, but you get the idea!

I worked very hard to make sure the book is good, just like I did with the calculator. Since the book was announced I’ve received a steady stream of orders - it’s nice to see my work being appreciated. Thank you. The book/calculator subscription combo is a bargain, and 75% of the book buyers are taking advantage of it.

No word yet on when the book will show up at the online bookstores. Give it at least another couple of weeks.

The book is almost done. I’ve got some fantastic quotes from the reviewers of early drafts. Look for the announcement here before the end of January.

I just released new versions of the calculator, component database, and airfoils database.

There was a pesky bug with the filters in the calculator. More an annoyance than a serious problem, I figured it was an easy fix. Well, I ended up spending all day tracking it down. Fixed.

There’s about 500 new components (airplanes, motors, etc) available.

There’s about 50 new airfoils. I’ve also increased the accuracy of the precomputed performance data.
