Book mention in Ampeer magazine
Submitted by carlos on Wed, 02/25/2009 - 12:45pmKen Myers included a nice mention of the book in the March 2009 issue of Ampeer magazine. Thanks!
Amazon United States has begun offering a 10% discount on single copies of my book. If you do Super Saver Shipping, this is currently the cheapest way to buy a single copy.
News Flash! Amazon United States just added Look Inside to the book!
R/C Flight Cast interview
Submitted by carlos on Tue, 02/24/2009 - 12:11pmMy interview by the R/C Flight Cast folks was just released. I’m extremely happy with how the interview turned out. Lots of great information and very entertaining, just like the book!
R/C Flight Cast #46 (starts 15 minutes in)
Jamie and Diggs from All Things That Fly just got copies of my book. They included some very nice comments in their current show.
Added links to book in worldwide Amazon sites
Submitted by carlos on Mon, 02/16/2009 - 11:55amRCadvisor’s Model Airplane Design Made Easy is available from most of the Amazon worldwide websites. These might be a good choice if you are located outside the United States. Note that copies ordered from Amazon will not be autographed and won’t qualify for the popular book/calculator combo discount.
All Things That Fly interview #2
Submitted by carlos on Mon, 02/09/2009 - 3:30pmAllThingsThatFly.com just posted the second interview we have done. This interview focused on the book, the interview a few months ago focused on the calculator. Here are links to both MP3 files.
Books Shipping on Wednesday!
Submitted by carlos on Fri, 02/06/2009 - 8:15amThe printing company has informed me that the first batch of my book copies are ready and on their way to me. I’ll have them on Tuesday, which means that I’ll be shipping out all orders on Wednesday. Orders from the United States and Canada should then be delivered on or before Friday, February 20.
Expect to hear a lot more about this book in the coming months. I’m scheduled to be interviewed at All Things That Fly and R/C Flight Cast. FlyRC and Airborne (Australian) magazines are reviewing it. There will be multiple mentions in Model Aviation magazine. It will also be mentioned in Flying Models, Park Pilot, and Quiet & Electric Flight International (British) magazines. Look for mentions also in Ampeer and RC Micro World. I’m sure I’m leaving some out, but you get the idea!
I worked very hard to make sure the book is good, just like I did with the calculator. Since the book was announced I’ve received a steady stream of orders - it’s nice to see my work being appreciated. Thank you. The book/calculator subscription combo is a bargain, and 75% of the book buyers are taking advantage of it.
No word yet on when the book will show up at the online bookstores. Give it at least another couple of weeks.
I’ve added a book 6 pack to the Products page. Buy five, get the sixth one free. This is a great way for club members to band together and save some money.
UPDATE (2/11): As promised, all of the books ordered through last night were shipped this morning.

Submitted by carlos on Wed, 01/28/2009 - 11:54am
At long last my model airplane design book is ready!!!
Greg Gimlick, Electrics columnist for Model Aviation magazine, had this to say:
“This book is a joy to read! Carlos really managed to produce a book that will last a long time and become one of the standards for modelers.”
I’m autographing copies and including FREE shipping on books ordered before March 1st. You can also get a nice discount if you order the book and subscribe to the calculator at the same time.

Submitted by carlos on Tue, 01/13/2009 - 12:49pm
The number of registered website users just passed 3,000. Welcome!
The book is almost done. I’ve got some fantastic quotes from the reviewers of early drafts. Look for the announcement here before the end of January.
New Calculator and Database Release
Submitted by carlos on Wed, 01/07/2009 - 6:54pmI just released new versions of the calculator, component database, and airfoils database.
There was a pesky bug with the filters in the calculator. More an annoyance than a serious problem, I figured it was an easy fix. Well, I ended up spending all day tracking it down. Fixed.
There’s about 500 new components (airplanes, motors, etc) available.
There’s about 50 new airfoils. I’ve also increased the accuracy of the precomputed performance data.

We have a winner!
Submitted by carlos on Sun, 11/02/2008 - 9:40amRcadvisor’s model airplane design contest is over. I’ve locked away the contest forum for now. I declare the winner to be community member “ggtronic” with his APstick design. It’s a fascinating-looking camera plane, and a very worthy winner.
Having said that, I’m disappointed that more RCadvisor members did not choose to participate in the contest. Did ggtronic’s contest entry scare everyone else away? I’d like to run the contest again. Please use the contact form to let me know how I can change the rules or the format so that it works better for you.
UPDATE: Our winner has stepped forward to claim his prize. He is Yves Auger from Boucherville, Quebec, Canada. Again, congratulations!
